Find below a new message from Dr. Jamie Cleland at Staffordshire University, who is now looking at attitudes to racism at football.

On Staffordshire University's topfan.co.uk research platform I have just started another research project looking at the perspectives of fans on the recent scandals involving racism in football. The questionnaire has just gone live Here and as you know is very current with incidents both on and off the pitch as well as Sepp Blatter's comments. Are the players to blame for the recent upsurge or has it never really been eradicated from the British game? You might even think there is no problem. My homophobia research (published in Sport and Social Issues and forthcoming inThe British Journal of Sociology) suggested that fans have become more liberal, inclusive and approving of diversity; the impression given in the media in recent weeks is perhaps misleading. This is the second award Kev has scooped this year. In March, he won the Npower Football League Fan of the Year award at the ceremony in London.

The Level Playing Fields (formerly known as the National Association of Disabled Supporters, NADS) make several presentations each year and the Joseph Wratten award is one of the new ones.

Well the new season is not far away and whether that fills you with excitement or apprehension then it's time to get ready.

Firstly get your ticket requests in to Barry, particularly for Birmingham and Palace by 4th August and Middlesborough by 18th. You can request tickets as far in advance as you like so get them in early. A full list of cut off dates will appear shortly.

Travel is now booked for Leicester and Birmingham, details are on the travel page

Finally a friendly reminder to renew your membership for the 11/12 season, with plans underway for the 35th anniversary celebration in November and the International Supporters Day returning on New Years Eve, there are plenty of reasons to sign up in addition to all the usual benefits.

We are delighted to announce a second International Supporters’ Day, to be held at the Ricoh Arena on Good Friday, 22 April 2011. This is an important opportunity for Sky Blues International members from all over the world to get to know each other and to meet fellow members of Coventry City London Supporters’ Club.

Members will be welcomed by Joe Elliott who will guide them on a tour of the stadium. We will meet key figures from the club’s past and present and enjoy a buffet before watching the Sky Blues take on Scunthorpe United.

The price for the whole event, including match ticket, is £30. Those with pre-booked seats will be issued with a transfer pass and charged only £10. You may book two tickets each, so please bring along a family member or a partner.

It is with deep regret that we record the passing of our club president, William Wilson, who died aged 97 on 18 August 2010. William Wilson was a distinguished parliamentarian who had been MP for constituencies in Coventry between 1964 and 1983. Closely associated with Coventry City, he was one of only thirty-seven Sky Blues supporters who made the trip to Bulgaria in 1970 to watch City's first European tie, against Trakia Plovdiv. He was the first and only president of Coventry City London Supporters' Club, having accepted the role on 10 October 1977.

Coventry City London Supporters’ Club will officially present the restored and updated Phil Barlow Trophy to Coventry City Football Club after the home game against Derby County on 21 August 2010 (Kick-off 12.15). This trophy was originally accepted by the football club in 2003 and is kept in the trophy cabinet as a permanent token of CCLSC’s Player of the Year award. Phil Barlow was a much-loved former member of CCLSC. Our Player of the Year competition is just starting its 34th consecutive season.

Joe Elliott will formally accept the trophy on behalf of the football club in celebration of the close relationship we all cherish, and especially during a year which has seen the remarkable development of our joint Sky Blues International project.

All paid-up members of CCLSC are welcome. Please contact your new social secretary, Kevin Mofid Here if you wish to have a free pass to the event. Your e-mail will be acknowledged during the week leading up to the event. Passes will be issued in the atrium at the Ricoh Arena after the game. The deadline for applications is midnight on 19 August.

Please note the dress code: No jeans, trainers or replica shirts

Bruised from the Blitz and with the boom years yet to unfold, the city of Coventry opened its doors to a bearded 33-year-old. The football club, like the city, was stuck in the Third Division.

The new cathedral opened, and Jimmy Hill gave the city a sky blue hymn. A community found its voice through the local football team.

JH transformed Coventry City. He also became one of the major influences on the developing status and identity of professional football in this country.

Coventry City Football Club is inviting everyone who values his contribution to our national game, and especially to this city and its club, the opportunity to donate to the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal.

A campaign to erect a permanent reminder of Hill and his achievements has been launched. The Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal will commission and install a statue of Hill, sculptured by the world famous artist Nicholas Dimbleby, outside the main entrance to the Ricoh Arena.

The fundraising will climax on 31 July, the day of the West Bromwich Albion game (kick off 3pm).

CCLSC will have the use of a box for this game. If, as a CCLSC member, you wish to make a £25 (minimum) donation to the Jimmy Hill Tribute Appeal, you can have a free ticket.

To take advantage of this offer, please send the information requested below by e-mail by TUESDAY 27 JULY.

Orders will be acknowledged, and tickets made available for personal collection on the day in return for your donation.

I do hope you are able to take advantage of this offer which is in aid of such a worthwhile cause and that you will enjoy the opportunity for a pre-season CCLSC get-together.

CCLSC has two imminent social events: The International Supporters Day at the Derby game on 3 April, and the Player of the Year presentation after the Preston game on 17 April.

3RD APRIL – INTERNATIONAL SUPPORTERS DAY

Sky Blues International (SBI) is part of Coventry City London Supporters’ Club, specifically the new international section of CCLSC.

This event is being promoted by the football club exclusively for the benefit of CCLSC (SBI) members and friends.

Members will be greeted in the Legends Lounge by Joe Elliott before being shown on a guided tour of the Ricoh Arena. After a light buffet lunch, they will watch the Sky Blues take on Derby County.

The occasion presents an ideal opportunity to mingle and to meet new CCLSC members.
Each member may pay for one guest.

There are two options:

£30 for a ticket to the event and to the match.
£10 for a ticket to the event and, on presentation of a season ticket or other pre-paid ticket, a pass to the match.

Sky Blues International is incorporated in CCLSC and by the end of January had already attracted 126 members from 31 different countries.

A special package is being offered exclusively to CCLSC/SBI members.

Members will be welcomed by Coventry City director Joe Elliott who will guide them on a tour of the stadium. They will meet key figures from the club's past and present and enjoy a buffet in the Legends Lounge before watching City take on the Rams.

A very Happy New Year to all CCLSC members everywhere, including our new Sky Blues International members from all over the world.

The Sky Blues go into 2010 on a note of optimism: a three match winning sequence, an improving injury situation, and the promise of new signings in the transfer window. The air of increasing desperation at the beginning of December has given way, we hope, to lengthening days of consolidation and promise.

CCLSC looks forward to a Q&A later in the season, and to the International Supporters' Day on Easter Saturday in conjunction with Sky Blues International. Further details will be announced shortly.

We are about to kick off the 2009/10 Season some of us will be optimistic others will look forward with trepidation and sadly there will be some who no longer care !

The CCLSC held a very successful AGM last Saturday when 15% of the membership showed up on a sweltering London Saturday. We have some major new initiatives to announce in the near future one of which I hope will be one of the most exciting in the 33 years the club has been operating - more on that in the near future.

I am kicking off our ever popular forecasting competition which we hope will receive an increased level of support this season.

Let's try to get more than 27 entries this year - once again I daresay that the Sky Blues' results will be predictably unpredictable - so everyone is in with a chance.

Last year's competition was won by George Ogleby (aged 14) who was urging Robbie Simpson to fail to score with the last free kick of the season at Portman Road as George had predicted a 2 -1 win for the home side - otherwise Paul Chandler (aged 14 and a bit more) might have sneaked in to win.
