Forecasting Competition - Season 2011/12
The forecasting competition is run by Robin Ogleby. Members are invited to
predict results for all 46 Sky Blues matches this season. Points are awarded as
follows :
6 - Correct results and both scores right
4 - Correct result and one score right
3 - Correct result but no scores right
1 - Wrong result but one score right.
Robin's latest report is as follows :
Yet another change of manager in March, and it appears that normality has
been restored at last - with the Sky Blues now winning games at home and
starting to lose them away! Jim McLuskey, for one, has filled his boots
following this more traditional state of affairs - scoring an incredible
27 points during the mad month of March, almost getting every single
prediction spot on, and rocketing 24 places to put himself in contention
for the covetted to three big money prizes (assuming there will still be a
club shop at the end of the season to provide the winning vouchers).
Clearly the prospect of a Scottish manager has struck a chord with Jim.
He'll have to keep this unprecedented run of good form up, though, in
order to catch up with the Davidson progeny. Son Mark, for instance, has
now pulled well away from the leading pack by correctly predicting the two
1-0 home wins against Hartlepool and Doncaster. And Daughter Nicola
continues her run of recent good form by moving into third place (also
courtesy of those two much-needed home wins). Commiseration to James
Bowler, however, who just missed out on a massive one million points when
the Pompey game wasn't abandoned (but I don't think even he seriouly
thought back at the start of the season that the more likely causes of the
abandonment would be, 1) the Sky Blues going into administration
themselves or, 2) the game being snowed off). A pity that the game wasn't
called off in the view of those of us who went there. Fortunately, though,
one of the worst performances of the season was quickly followed by one of
the best. And finally, a huge trumpet (fanfare) goes out to Chris Webb for
eventually getting his first correct prediction of the season - the 2-1
win at Scunthorpe!
